Manhasset Super Service / Car Care of Manhasset

yelp

A few years ago, I went for an inspection @ Manhasset Super Service / Car Care of Manhasset (corner of Northern Blvd. and Maple St., opposite from Macy’s.) When I went to pick it up, they informed me that the Jeep Cherokee (less than 4 years old) failed due to a tail light and they didn’t have the bulb. They said it might take a day or two for them to get the bulb. My choice: drove off without any inspection sticker (they striped off already) or came back when they fixed it.

I never complained this to anyone but felt being screwed. (I paid and drove to another shop, paid again and yes, the other shop had the bulb – it’s very common car – not a Maybach that you need across the pond to get a part – ok, just kidding..)

Here is the reason I wrote this review today.

New Amber Auto Service

yelp

I wasn’t going to write this but, went to a different shop this afternoon (my review) and wanted to say something.
I’ve been a long time customer to Joe, the previous owner since the 1990s but stopped going.

A few years ago, I received a notice fm the state saying my inspection was long passed due.

No sir, I’d three more months left on the sticker.

But DMV insisted that they had no record of it and asked me to fax the receipt over to prove my innocence.
I never thought of keeping one. I went to the shop – New Amber Auto Svce in Flushing and they said, looking thought all the records – each month they do a few thousand of inspections – was impossible. Make the story short, I did an inspection immediately here and didn’t go back again.
Different owner, different management and different attitude.

I know nothing about car other than start the engine and drive. First time there but I sure will return.
The office and the shop are very clean, especially the office. The young boss who sat in the office, looks like a cool hacker (it’s a compliment) who keeps a poker face.
I went for inspection but he called to say I needed oil change. What’s that? ha ha ha … ok, ok and thanks a lot.
At pick up, I asked him about two lousy experience at two different shops, here’s what he said:

Paul said today: “The shop wasn’t wrong. After all, this is what an inspection for. But I won’t do what they did to my customer.”

I sure hear this a lot, but I believe this young man means it – my car runs normal. Ok, just kidding here.
