Tangshan Museum 唐山博物馆
A plain museum comes to live due to a good guide…
As usual, it’s pretty vacant. And outside, it’s even more vacant. The locals don’t really like it …
Either I ran into the right people or China’s wine has improved: Kenos Chardonnay (2016) from Central Valley in Chile is decent, so is the Tempranillo (2017). And the food at this restaurant is delicious too.
The park was built in 1954 under the name of People’s Park and changed to Dazhao in 1986, to honor Li Dazhao, Chinese intellectual who co-founded the Communist Party of China. It’s in a prime location: to the east is Wanda Plaza and Xinhua Hotel.

This hotel has seen a better day. It used to be the tallest building. Next to the hotel, a new building is going up. I didn’t check the hotel before booking, just took a recommendation from a local friend. Location is great, opposite from Wanda Plaza, diagonally from Dazhao Park (大钊) and a stone throw away from Kailuan headquarter and Kailuan Hotel. It’s a revolving restaurant on the top, where I’ve two breakfasts: almost forgot that I’ve paid for, -:). Often I was the only customer. Food varieties were limited.
Left is for sale, that included a toilet seat cover… pretty inventive = sneaky.
