Wide & Narrow Alley (Kuanzhai Xiangzi)
Chengdu, Sichuan, China
This area is one of the top tourist destinations in the city for consumptions: foods and goods. There are actually three parallel streets: Wide Alley (Kuan Xiangzi, 宽巷子), Narrow Alley (Zhai Xiangzi 窄巷子) and Well Alley (Jing Xiangzi 井巷子). Reportedly, they were developed around 1718.
Ear cleaning is seen everywhere in Chengdu and Chongqing. Some say it’s the speciality of Sichuan but remembered that Beijing had it too, at least when I was little: it was done in the bathhouse.
