Backyard yellow

1pm on Nov 11

4pm on Nov 12: the setting sun highlights one of the trees and turning it into a shinny orange, as if on fire – unfortunately my skill and phone camera are not up to the task.

And the street swiper (A7 Tornado by Schwarze) – leave vacuum comes too often -:)

Spy C Cuisine

72-06 Austin
Forest Hills, NY 11375

Pretty good 3.5, will return if in the area. We went after the hike at Hudson Highlands.

The narrow Sichuan restaurant has a simple decor, wooden tables with pleasant wall murals. Service as well as food are decent.

~ Beef with tripe with chili oil smells right and taste great.

~ Wok seared cabbage with pork belly is well done, crispy cabbage is tasty, although this dish is usually paired with bacon.

~ Jumbo shrimp is bit too sweet, could use less mayo

~ Sour beef soup hits the spot after a long day hiking plus yoga ‍

They serve very limited selection of wine. Street parking.

Hudson Highlands State Park

3260 NY-9D
Cold Spring, NY 10516

A great hike and got some yoga in. We started on the southern most point (map here), went up on WB Washburn (white trail) then came down mostly on CN Cornish (blue; mostly is carriage road). Bathrooms are portables. Parking lot is small. A satisfying dinner at Spy C conclude the 5.5 miles day.

(More info here) The 650-acre land in the Breakneck Valley was owned by Sigmund and Dove Stern since 1904, their home was built by Werner and Windolph in 1912. Another sunny day but it’s a bit windy. The boy finally meets the girl, and an interesting garbage can. It used to be male blue crabs but the Chinese supermarkets sell female …

Upper Francis Pond Preserve @ Mill Neck

29 S 03090 @ Oyster Bay Road

A nice little area if you’re in the region. The pond is just a few steps down from the parking lot, which is tiny, perhaps only 8 spots (?)

Bailey Arboretum

194 Bayville Rd.
Lattingtown, NY 11560

This neighborhood little gem has trails and a Turtle Island. It was the home of financier Frank Bailey (1865-1953). There is a siting down even that evening, I would think that everyone has to zip up to stay warm.

Weekly hike, foliage

The warm weather making the foliage turns slower. By now, many tress are still vividly green – can’t help but do some yoga. We hit three sites on a 47 degrees day: Planting Fields, Bailey Arboretum and Upper Francis Pond Preserve + Chelf Road Bridge. Shu Swamp and John Humes Japanese Stroll Garden are closed. My first time using Relive.
