Maritime Museum, New York

6 Pennyfield Ave,
Bronx, NY 10465

The Maritime Industry Museum at Fort Schuyler is in the borough of Bronx, New York City. It is under the Throggs Neck bridge, on the campus of SUNY’s Martine College; looking out to Whitestone Bridge, where we had lunch at Trump’s Link

The museum is housed in the Fort Schuyler. This fortification, with Fort Totten in the current Bay Terrace across the water, meant to defend the attacks from Long Island Sound. It was built between 1835 and 1856.

Fort Schuyler was named after Continental Army General Philip Schuyler (1733-1804). It also housed Stephen B Lucy library and a couple of other entities.

The exhibits are more of 1900s and on.
