Nordstrom @ Central Park Tower

225 W 57th Street
New York, NY

Nordstrom department store, founded in 1901 in Seattle, WA, has moved recently, occupying the basement and the first five floors of Central Park Tower on 57th Street, between 7th Ave and Broadway, near the Columbus Circle Mall.

This skyscraper Central Park Tower was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, developed by Extell Development Company and Shanghai Municipal Investment Group and completed in 2021. It has 98 floors, with a roof at the high of 1,550 feet.

The cantilever on the east side of the building was over the old building (completed in 1892) as the home of Art Students League of New York @ 215 W 57th Street, to max out Central Park view. Their air rights sold for $31.8 million but with challenge and opposition. (NYT: At art students league, air rights and airing grievances.)

On March 10, 2022, it displays Ukraine’s flag colors
