The Library

600 5th St S
Saint Petersburg, FL 33701

… like the name – library

Will return n we did, before and after the Grand Prix.

Location: next to Johns Hopkins children hospital. Hopkins was enlightened by his good friend George Peabody who believed that books could enrich us. This restaurant is inspired by Peabody and worked with the team that created the Oxford Exchange.

Ambiance is great: bookshelves under high ceiling. Abundant light, wood and glasses.

Service is very good. Real books are used for the bills: the Mind of the South (1941) by W.J Cash who hung himself shortly after the publication of this book. He was only 41 years old. And Before the War (2017) a novel by Fay Weldon. Some food for thought!

Food: Benedict is better than the avocado toast, have to ask for salt. Love their glasses and tableware.

We like it so much, returned for a cup of coffee after the race.

The parking lot at back is small – don’t know if they’ve more elsewhere. Both times they asked if we’ve reservations, which we didn’t.

Lunched with my book club friends. The warm burrata is good, so is their Italian Benvolio Pinot Grigio. The Schott Zwiesel wine glass is pretty good. Our bills were presented inside the blue book: The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst (2004).
